Jan and I took time today to visit the annual Festival of Trees at the Mayo Civic Center. It’s a fundraiser for Hiawatha Homes in Rochester, a nonprofit that serves disabled adults.
Local businesses become underwriters of the event through their donations at one of several levels. Other businesses or donors contribute items to a sizable silent auction. Designers apply to decorate Christmas trees with various themes. We saw some fun trees today, including a Wizard of Oz tree, Dr. Suess tree, sports-themed trees, and on and on. Here are some of the various ornaments and decorations that caught our attention.
In my opinion the event was well-attended, and it’s pleasing to see strong community support for one of our nonprofit organizations.
